Week Two Review
This week has been great. I have new ideas to work with and also have a new perspective from the video of Tom Monaghan. The blogs, like Seth Godin's have been informative and has given me great resources to draw upon for ideas and ways to run my start-up. I also was impressed in the dedication of the Hinckley Building that President Hinckley talked about the success that will come out of learning and growing at BYU-Idaho. I am excited to get started on my business plan this week.
$100 Challenge Week 2
This week for the challenge I have looked at what ideas I would like to do for my business. The hardest thing is to find what I can do now that will meet the challenge in a short amount of time. Most businesses take time to get started with the right products or services and the resources to do something with. I will be weighing heavily this week the ideas I have and make a decision that will fit best with my time and my resources at hand.

Action Hero Tom Monaghan
Tom Monaghan as the action hero this week was inspiring. I sometimes think what it would be like to have a business that makes it big and then have all the luxuries in the world. I think I’m a little like Tom in the fact that I myself chose to make my life different and for a purpose other than myself. But I wonder what I would do if as time goes on my wealth became greater than my purpose. I have a mission statement that I use to define myself and what I want to be. My purpose, as I have chosen, is to serve others. I have goals that surround that initiative and I have worked out steps in my life so that I can always be reminded to serve. So if that time ever comes that I make more than I need I think I have placed in my path triggers and reminders to do what is right and work for those who have needs greater than my own.

Weekly Journal 1
This week was very interesting finding out more about the course for my entrepreneurial class. A couple of key elements that I liked about this weeks class:
We are starting a project called the $100 Challenge. We are to set-up a business for $20 or less and try to make $100 before the end of the semester all the proceeds go to a Kiva project. This is making me put my thinking cap on and think of ways I can create a business from scratch and make it profitable in a short amount of time. Considering that my own time is limited with work and school this should be interesting. I am thinking about a project that involves purchasing and reselling from online. I want to see if I can find things that may be of less value to one person and sell them for a higher amount to another. Basically becoming a distributor of used things.
Along with the challenge I found that the Action Hero's section was informative. Please see my recent post on Bruce Thompson. Finding out more about others successes can greatly help me find ways to overcome my own challenges as I become more aware and focused in my endeavors.
The Start-up nation is a great website for those who have not already established what they want. I don't personally believe that this type of process will lead you to ultimate success in a business or life but the premise of writing things down and figuring out a plan are all necessary. I believe this site is a great catalyst for someone who has never looked at how they want to progress in life or business. Hopefully I can regain more insight from it's sources and details as I participate wholly in it.
Chosen place of Challenge Donation
This week I chosen Dindo from the Philippines for my donation in the $100.00 Challenge. I served in the Philippines as a missionary and I have had a strong conviction to do as much as I can in giving back to them as much as they have given me.
Bruce Thompson
Bruce Thompson’s interview on his successes reminded me that perseverance is the key to getting things done. Bruce was honest with his investors if there was a bad deal. That is hard to do sometimes when you are answering to other people’s money. But his honesty and motivation to move forward is what lead to his success. I have had a hard time in my successes sometimes. I have had million dollar deals not go through and have to answer for the reasons why even if they were my own. I’m glad to know that getting past those failures is a movement forward in my life
